Zegami Graphics Requirements

Minimum Requirements #

  • 256MB of Video RAM
  • OpenGL ES 2.0 Support*
  • Intel HD 4000 or equivalent

Recommended Requirements #

  • 512MB or greater Video RAM**
  • OpenGL ES 2.0 Support*
  • Dedicated nVidia GeForce GT 630 / AMD Radeon R5 240 or equivalent

* Requires support for GL extension ANGLE_INSTANCED_ARRAYS.

** Video RAM requirements vary with collection size and display resolution

Recommended browser #

The recommended browser for using Zegami is Google Chrome. The latest versions have an optimised graphics pipeline for uploading data to the GPU. iOS and Mac OS X users will achieve similar results using Safari.

Large collection support #

For collections greater than 10,000 in size, or dynamic tile collections, a fast, dual core CPU and at least 2GB of system memory is recommended.

Why a dedicated GPU? #

Zegami’s main bottleneck is texture upload speeds, that is the time taken for the texture to be uploaded to the GPU. A dedicated GPU does not generally share graphics memory with the system memory and so does not have to compete with other processes that may also make memory requests at the same time. A dedicated graphics card with GDDR5 memory will vastly improve performance viewing large collections in Zegami.
